There is a thread "Discarding Events" in Rx forum from June 2010 http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/rx/thread/7ef4c561-018c-41c8-8704-d630d44ca38c

Am I wrong or Rxx does not implement such feature?

In my case the source is a high frequency timer and consumer is a rather slow UI with WPF (scientific visualization). I obviously could but do not want use `Sample()` because its constant value would be either too fast and block UI or update UI too rarely (which is machine dependent).

Hi Mikhail,

The Introspection family of operators may help, but unfortunately I don't have the time to look into it deeply right now.  I'll make some time soon and get back to you.

Here's the corresponding lab:

Hi Mikhail,

I forgot about the following work item.  It seems to be related.
